Grand Forks Community Organizations to Host Art Show in Celebration of International Women’s Day

Grand Forks, ND — The Equal Rights Association (ERA NOW), Arts for Vets – Grand Forks Arts Center, and the Women’s Fund are partnering to host an art show in celebration of International Women’s Day. The show, “Inspire Inclusion,” opens on March 8 at 5:00 p.m. at Arts for Vets – Grand Forks Arts Center (215 N 3rd St, Suite 100).

The 2024 International Women’s Day (IWD) theme is “Inspire Inclusion,” and participating artists will have considered the following information provided by IWD when they submitted works for the show:

● When we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion in all sectors of society, family, business, and culture, we forge a better world. When women themselves are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging, relevance, empowerment, and conscious acknowledgment of all the contributions women provide to make the world a better place.

● When women aren’t present, we must ask: “If not, why not?”

● When women are discriminated against, we must call out poor practices.

● When the treatment of women is not equitable, we must act.

● When women’s contributions are not acknowledged and celebrated, we must create opportunities to do so.

● And we must do this each time, every time.

● To truly include women means openly embracing their diversity of race, age, ability, faith, body image, and how they identify. Worldwide, women must be included in all fields of endeavor.

Inspire Inclusion: An Art Show Celebrating International Women’s Day will be displayed in the Grand Forks Arts Center March 8-31. The show features artwork by more than 40 local and regional artists and includes more than 70 works of art highlighting various media, subjects, and artistic styles.

The opening reception is Friday, March 8, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. It will be a joyful celebration of women and will include desserts, beverages, dynamic discussion, and live music by local violinist Tamara Bertram. The event is free and open to all.

“Inspire Inclusion” is a collaborative effort by three local organizations; The Equal Rights Association (ERA NOW), Arts for Vets – Grand Forks Arts Center, and the Women’s Fund.
