Dolly Parton will debut a reimagined song with a group of female artists on Friday (October 11), and together, they’ll share “a heartfelt conversation about life, family and our journeys in show business.”
Parton made the announcement on Monday (October 7). Together, the legendary country artist is teaming up with Maddie & Tae, Jessie James Decker and Callie Twisselman to deliver the new rendition of “Gonna Be You.” Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Diane Warren wrote the song, which Parton previously sang with Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan, Belinda Carlisle of The Go-Go’s and Debbie Harry of Blondie. The empowering anthem appeared in the film 80 For Brady, which premiered last year. It focuses on a group of friends — played by Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno and Sally Field — who “made it their life-long mission to go to the Super Bowl and meet NFL superstar Tom Brady.”
“I am excited to share this with you all soon! A reimagined version of ‘Gonna Be You’ written by [Diane Warren] and performed by the talented [Maddie & Tae], [Jessie James Decker], [Callie Twisselman] and me is out this Friday,” Parton said. “Now that we have this new song together, we decided to sit down together for a heartfelt conversation about life, family and our journeys in show business. …We shared laughs, stories and created memories I know everyone will enjoy being a part of. 🩷”
Maddie & Tae’s Maddie Font and Taylor Kerr said it was “a dream,” and Decker said she “will cherish this day forever.”
Parton shared a sneak peek of the heartfelt conversation with the other women, which premieres on Friday, October 11 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Watch it here:
