Ioana Enache joins the leadership team of MARe – The Museum of Recent Art

October 2024 marks six years since MARe – The Museum of Recent Art opened its doors on Primăverii Boulevard, and with this milestone, new opportunities arise. Ioana Enache will be joining the museum’s leadership team, working alongside the board to oversee the operational management of the MARe Foundation.

A seasoned business leader, Ioana brings her belief that Romania has the potential and determination to rise to international standards in the cultural sector. Established by the MARe Foundation, MARe – The Museum of Recent Art – opened in October 2018. The board currently includes Roger Akoury (founder), Suzana Vasilescu (creative entrepreneur), Dan Popescu (curator and gallerist), and Ioana Enache (Director of MARe).

With over 30 years of experience, including over a decade as General Manager for Amway’s regional operations and a background in business transformation and consultancy, Ioana Enache has held leadership roles across diverse industries, including beauty, wellness, pharmaceuticals, oil, food, and retail. Her expertise in business transformation, team leadership, sustainable growth, and innovation has earned her numerous accolades and awards throughout her career.

Enache added that she is excited to contribute to MARe’s continued evolution, aspiring to help create a “cool, cultivated, and educated” Romania. Alongside the board and the museum’s dedicated team, she envisions MARe becoming a vibrant cultural hub filled with visitors, creative workshops, and initiatives, fostering dialogue and growth for both individuals and society as a whole.

MARe’s future programming will feature a carefully curated cultural calendar, including groundbreaking exhibitions—such as the current one—and showcases featuring international artists seen in major museums around the world. “Every advanced society is built on art, culture, education, and sport, and Romania is rapidly evolving in these areas,” Enache remarked.
