Jebbee in East Lansing has launched a career and college preparedness social networking platform.

The app, which is free to download, connects students with universities, professional mentors, and companies to boost accessibility to college and career pathways.

Jebbee blends the professionalism of networking platforms with social media. The app provides a space for students to explore career opportunities and learn about educational institutions, including programs offered, campus culture, and admission requirements.

Jebbee offers a variety of unique tools designed to help students make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures. Key features include:

  • CareerMatch: Matches users with careers aligned to personality traits, interests and skills, providing personalized career suggestions.
  • SchoolMatch: Assists users in finding educational institutions that align with their career goals and personal preferences, simplifying the search for compatible schools, ensuring alignment with users’ wants and needs.
  • CareerDay: Facilitates mass mentoring where students and professionals can exchange questions and videos virtually.
  • Campus Feed: A university-exclusive feed to keep students, faculty, and alumni engaged with updates and videos related to school news and events.
  • Ask Jebbee: Allows users to ask questions and receive guidance related to careers and education, providing personalized advice to help users navigate their educational and career journeys.

“Jebbee provides exposure and access to all kinds of career paths, keeping up with the ever-changing professional landscape,” says Stephanie Hickman Boyse, founder and CEO of Jebbee. “There is a clear desire from students to have more resources available to them while making life-changing career and education decisions. I created Jebbee to help connect students of all backgrounds to real people with real jobs, in real time.”

With early adopters like Michigan State University, Jebbee plans to build a network of students, universities, and professionals that will extend across the country. Plans for expansion include high school and university partnerships, as well as collaborations with companies and educational organizations that support career readiness.

“At Michigan State University, we think about recruiting students as a developmental process, rather than as a sorting process,” says Mark Largent, vice provost and dean of undergraduate education at Michigan State University. “From the very first time we engage with a prospective student until long after they graduate, we help our students explore their passions, learn about career options, and develop transferable skills.

“That’s what excites me about Jebbee — it allows for dynamic career exploration, allowing our students to align their passions with their education and ultimately their career paths.”

By connecting students, educational institutions, and companies, Jebbee says it fosters a collaborative environment to help shape the next generation of the workforce.
