US vice president Kamala Harris is facing allegations of plagiarism in her 2009 book ‘Smart on Crime‘, according to a recent report by conservative writer Christopher Rufo. The claims suggest that Harris, who co-authored the book with Joan O’C. Hamilton lifted multiple sections from uncited sources, including Wikipedia, press releases, and news reports.
This controversy surrounding VP Harris has triggered strong reactions on X (formerly Twitter), with users calling out The New York Times for admitting that Harris’ book contained “lapses,” while allegedly shifting the blame onto conservatives for pointing them out.
Libs of TikTok posted on X, “The New York Times basically admits Kamala plagiarized and there were ‘lapses’ in her book but then blames Conservatives for noticing and pointing it out. Unbelievable.” This tweet sparked so many reactions across the platform.
One user wrote, “The NYT is a useless newspaper, a mere shadow of what they once were.”
Another user commented, “Her major lapses are not in her book, they’re in her judgment, and nothing the NYT says can hide them because they’re on view in a continual stream for all the world to see.”
Some labelled Harris a ‘con artist,’ with one post reading, “Kamala is a con artist and to say I’m not surprised is an understatement.”
Many took the opportunity to slam The New York Times for perceived bias, with one comment stating, “NYT endorsed Kamala a while ago. Anyone expecting objectivity from them is fooling themselves.”
Others sarcastically added, “To call this out makes you racist. How dare you expose her and her lies!”
While the majority of reactions were critical, a few users found humour in the situation, using the controversy as an opportunity to share memes mocking Harris and the situation.
They mocked Kamala for getting caught saying, ‘Kamala Harris got CAUGHT!’
While referencing MAGA’s claim of Kamala’s ‘drinking problem’ one user posted,
