Kathy Griffin gloats about using dead mother’s social media to troll Elon Musk

During an appearance on “The View” this week, comedian Kathy Griffin discussed her 2022 “Twitter war” with X owner Elon Musk, claiming she used her dead mother’s social media account to aggravate Musk.

“I can’t stand that [expletive],” Griffin said of Musk. “I love starting beefs with very powerful men, that’s why I’m out of work, but I can’t help it.”

Griffin went on to explain she had changed her X username to “Elon Musk” and wrote a post in favor of abortion rights. Musk got “so mad,” Griffin explained.

I kept tweeting as [Musk] going ‘#BidenHarris, #VoteBlueNoMatterWho,’” she said. “He took away my account and then, this is so twisted, I started trolling him from my dead mother’s account.”

Acting as “the ghost of Maggie Griffin,” Kathy Griffin urged Musk to vote for Democrats. Musk’s supporters allegedly responded by attacking Griffin.

The exchange caught the attention of comedian Jimmy Kimmel, who invited Griffin on his show to play Musk in a skit.

Stuck it to him again,” Griffin said of her performance.

The incident took place in 2022 shortly after Musk acquired the platform. Griffin was one of several Musk impersonators on the site, including actress Sarah Silverman, who wrote as Musk “I am a freedom of speech absolutist and I eat doody for breakfast every day.”

Musk later warned accounts that impersonated someone without marking themselves as “parody” would be permanently suspended.

Musk has repeatedly been targeted by Democrats for openly expressing his political views. Several major Democrats, including members of the “Squad,” blasted X owner Elon Musk Thursday after he shared a post criticizing Democratic immigration policy.

“You’re literally an immigrant,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., said in response to Musk claiming “the Dem Party goal is to import voters.”
