This year’s Tamworth Country Music Festival—also home to the 53rd Golden Guitar Awards—is quickly approaching, and ahead of the latter kicking off next weekend (25 January), the Top Selling Album of the Year has been revealed.
Keith Urban’s High has taken home the honour of the Top Selling Australian Country Album of the Year.
Posting about the achievement on social media, the Tamworth Country Music Festival shared that the award is based on “the release of ARIA Charts data and cross-referenced with Award eligibility” to determine the winner. Albums released from 1 January to 31 December 2024 – of new material – were eligible for the award.
In addition to unveiling the Top Selling Australian Country Album of the Year, Tamworth Country Music Festival revealed the albums that made the top five alongside High. They were Troy Cassar-Daley’s Between The Fires, Kasey Chambers’ Backbone, Casey Barnes’ Mayday, and Lily Grace’s Old Enough To Know Better.
Troy Cassar-Daley, Kasey Chambers and Casey Barnes will perform headline shows at this year’s Tamworth Country Music Festival, which takes place from 17-26 January. You can find more information about the 2025 festival here.
The rest of this year’s Golden Guitar Awards winners will be revealed on Saturday, 25 January, at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre. Those who aren’t lucky enough to attend can watch the awards live on the festival website and Facebook page.

Keith Urban will bring his High And Alive World Tour to Australia in August, performing in arenas across the country. For all shows, he’ll be joined by special guest Chase Matthew.
High was released last September. Upon announcing the album, Urban said, “When I’m writing a song, or when I’m in the studio recording it, or even when it’s coming to life on the stage, it’s the same feeling of being ‘in the flow.’ It’s timeless, it’s weightless – and I feel euphoric – I feel HIGH.
“What makes you ‘high’ can mean whatever you want it to mean. It might be physical, spiritual, herbal, meditative, chemical or musical, but it’s definitely a place of utopia.”
