Children and their drawings can be quite telling.

And that’s part of the reason why Collier County students in all grades are tasked annually with artwork for the ‘Keep Collier Beautiful’ calendar.

The project is in conjunction with the county’s Solid &Hazardous Waste Management as part of an environmental campaign to promote environmental awareness.

Each year, students in grades 1 through 12 are invited to submit original artwork that showcases themes such as recycling, proper waste disposal, litter prevention, and a love for the environment.

The county’s solid waste division plays an active role throughout the contest process, from organizing and promoting the event to coordinating with schools and educators.

The county solid waste staff review the submissions and help select the runner up and final winners in each grade. They visits public, private, and charter schools to educate and inspire students about the importance of preserving our paradise.
