May marks a busy month for La Jolla business openings, from Robert White Interiors and Turtle Rock Ridge Vineyard Winery to an expansion of L&G Projects’ art gallery.
Here’s a look at some of the area’s newest business developments, and ones coming soon.
Robert White Interiors
To kick off its new store, Robert White Interiors will host a grand-opening event from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 9, at 1298 Prospect St.
RWI is a full-service interior design firm with a focus on high-end residential designs, builds and renovations aimed at crafting “timeless and deeply personal” homes, according to the company, which originated in Atlanta.
Founder Robert White said he is thrilled to enter La Jolla and plans to reflect its “laid-back culture” with warmth and comfort. He added that he and business partner Dustin Reeser are eager to connect with builders, developers and real estate brokerages in the area, since they are “intertwined.”
“I’ve had a love affair with this part of the country since I can remember. The terrain, the colors, the architecture and the people always felt like a direct reflection of who I was and what I identified with,” White said. “It was natural for me to bring my life and my abilities here.”
RWI is taking appointments for summer and fall clients. Learn more at robertwhiteinteriors.com.
Haru Sushi
Following an ownership change in January and a brief hiatus for remodeling, Haru Sushi at 7441 Girard Ave. held a soft reopening March 26.
As it irons out a new menu, the restaurant is anticipating a grand opening soon.

Haru Sushi, formerly owned by Nak Joon Kim, is now operated by General Manager Carlos Lopez and head sushi chef John Danh.
Lopez said customers can expect fresh fish and attention to detail in a comfortable, inviting atmosphere. Among the menu’s highlights, he said, are a citrus hamachi sashimi dish and the Haru roll, consisting of tuna, crispy garlic, karashi sauce and asparagus tempura.

Lushful Aesthetics
New York-based men’s aesthetic clinic Lushful Aesthetics is making its first venture to the West Coast with a new store now open at 1150 Silverado St. in La Jolla.

Lushful Aesthetics offers botox, filler, laser hair removal and enhancement procedures. The business, founded by Chris Bustamante, expanded west after seeing patients traveling from major cities including Los Angeles, Seattle, Houston, Dallas and San Diego.
Dr. Carlton Thomas, a board-certified gastroenterologist, serves as chief medical director.

L&G Projects
George “Theo” Theodorakos, who opened the art gallery L&G Projects in La Jolla’s Village in 2015, followed it up April 14 with a second location in collaboration with Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty at 1111 Prospect St.
Theodorakos said he hopes the expansion will represent “a complete and mutual symbiosis of sorts,” elevating Pacific Sotheby’s with the work of established artists and serving as “a one-stop shop” for art.
“This collaboration is an amazing opportunity to interact with homebuyers in La Jolla, being a large portion of our clientele, as well as being located in the epicenter of The Village,” Theodorakos said.
L&G’s original gallery is at 7940 Herschel Ave. To learn more, visit @lg_projects on Instagram.
Turtle Rock Ridge Vineyard Winery
Laurie Wagner and Ian Vaux, owners of Turtle Rock Ridge Vineyard Winery, have a new location for San Diegans to try local wines.
Wagner and Vaux started in Ramona and have owned and operated Turtle Rock Ridge for 13 years. On Thursday, May 1, they’ll open in La Jolla at 1261 Prospect St.
“San Diego County’s wine industry, once silenced by Prohibition in the 1920s, is now experiencing a vibrant resurgence,” Wagner said. “Many locals are surprised to learn that some of California’s finest wines are grown and produced right here. With ideal weather and rich soil, our region is perfect for cultivating premium wine grapes.”
Turtle Rock Ridge offers wine tasting and a selection of three curated wine flights — white, red and sangria.
Each Thursday will feature happy hour discounts all day.
