The video is laced with profanities and is often confusing.

“Donald Trump has personally made business decisions which have hurt so many different reincarnated Jesuses,” Todd said.

Toward the end of the 80-second video, Todd’s message to the president goes from confusing to threatening.

“Fight me naked to the death!” Todd said. “I’m going to cut you up with a chainsaw and put you in acid.”

“He just kept escalating his behavior,” said St. Lucie County Sheriff Richard Del Toro. “He got the attention obviously of the United States Secret Service, and that got our attention.”

Del Toro said his deputies had actually been watching Todd for more than a week, concerned for his mental health.

They had tried to deliver civil paperwork to his home, and Del Toro said he was combative, refused to open the door, and threatened violence.

Neighbors said they noticed the increase in law enforcement in the area over the last week and weren’t surprised to hear Todd was accused of threatening Trump.

They said he’d been acting strangely for a while.

“That’s not cool at all,” said Ronald Barron. “Not just with the President, that’s with anybody.”

Del Toro said the surveillance had to escalate to an arrest once they saw the video Todd had posted.

“It’s just very concerning for us,” Del Toro said. “Some of the things that have happened in the past to our President. We want to make sure we’re not leaving anything to chance.”

Todd is charged with Written Threat to Kill or Do Bodily Harm.

His bond was set at $500,000.
