Kochi: The ongoing exhibition of paintings, sculptures, and art installations by a group of contemporary women artists at G Memorial Art Gallery in the city is a celebration of the freedom of spirit of female artists, and the amount of talent on the show has bewitched art enthusiasts.
Around 70 works by 30 acclaimed artists are on display at the exhibition.
“All the works are based on the theme ‘Ormayude Olangalil’, on the occasion of remembering the great poet G Sankara Kurup. Each artistic creation becomes a memory forever after its completion,” she said.
Prints of renowned painter T K Padmini’s two paintings titled ‘Nilavu’ and ‘Pattam Parathunna Penkutty’ are among the major attractions of the exhibition.
‘Alice Out of Wonderland’ by Anuradha Nalapat explores words and violence in casual nursery rhymes, while Sajitha R Shankar’s works explore the myths and mysteries of the female body.
Radha Gomati’s works displayed in the exhibition are mobile app drawings with texts in black ink below them.
A surrealistic painting and an installation ‘Virus 2021’ by the curator are also on display at the expo which will conclude on Feb 14.
