LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (WAFB) – The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of three men who allegedly used social media platforms to prey on children.
According to Sheriff Jason Ard, deputies began proactive investigations into three different people on various social media platforms in December 2024. During these investigations, the sheriff’s office secured arrest warrants for all three suspects.
Deputies said Norman “Buddy” Cutrer, Randy Gilleo, and Nathaniel Walsh were taken into custody.
The Louisiana Bureau of Investigations/ Attorney General’s Office/ Louisiana Homeland Security Investigations and the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office help LPSO’s Internet Crimes Against Crimes (ICAC) Task Force with this investigation.
“Detectives are identifying individuals who are preying on naïve and innocent children on social media platforms and online gaming servers. The LPSO ICAC Task Force works tirelessly to identify these predators,” said Sheriff Ard.
Charges
- Norman “Buddy” Cutrer, 35, of Ponchatoula, was arrested Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, on three counts of indecent behavior with juveniles, three counts of computer-aided solicitation of a minor, and possession of methamphetamine.
- Randy Gilleo, 28, of Prairieville, was arrested Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, on two counts of indecent behavior with juveniles and two counts of computer-aided solicitation of a minor.
- Nathaniel Walsh, 34, of Sun Prairie, WI., was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, on two counts of indecent behavior with juveniles and one count of computer-aided solicitation of a minor.
According to the sheriff’s office, studies have shown only 7 percent of parents knew their children received inappropriate content from adults online.
Deputies released the following tips to help parents protect their children:
- Know your children
- Set boundaries/ rules on the internet
- Set parental guidelines on apps
- Do integrity checks on child’s internet use
- Encourage communication about internet activities
- Explain to children the difference in online world vs. real world
- Be in your kid’s business
