‘Nari Shakti’ Takes Centre Stage, 100 Women Artists Lead Republic Day Parade For First Time

Republic Day 2024: India is marking a historic milestone with its 75th Republic Day celebrations on January 26. A spectacular parade highlighting India’s military might and cultural variety was held in the national capital at Kartavya Path, with a focus on women’s empowerment and Nari Shakti. For the first time, the parade was heralded by over 100 women artists playing Indian musical instruments such as the ‘Sankh,’ ‘Nadaswaram,’ and ‘Nagada’.

The theme of this year’s Republic Day is ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat: Loktantra ki Matruka’, which symbolise the country’s aspirations and its role as the nurturer of democracy.

The ceremony of the Republic Day celebration began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying homage at the National War Memorial. President Droupadi Murmu, accompanied by President France President Emmanuel Macron, who is a Chief Guest, then took the salute at the parade, which began at 10:30 AM.

PM Modi observed a two-minute silence in homage to the supreme sacrifices of the armed personnel in protecting the nation after which the buglers played ‘Rouse’ and the guards presented ‘Salami Shastra’ again.

As India is celebrating its 75th Republic Day, several world leaders inclduing Macron, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and former Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, extended their wishes to India and PM Modi.
