New mural unveiled on Amherst County business off Route 29

One local painter showcased her talents and unveiled a new mural on the side wall of Anderson’s Market.

Anderson’s worker and painter Cheyenne Clay added a piece of her own image to the wall outside by dedicating a mural to the county.

ABC13 spoke to Clay over the phone on Wednesday. She shared that the mural is split up into four seasons to highlight some of the amazing views in Amherst County.

Clay said the mural is broken up into four sections for each of the four seasons. First, she said it starts with with spring and painted the Blue Ridge Mountains with local wildflowers. Clay shared that the second part of the mural is done in the summer to highlight the vineyards we have in the area.

For fall, Clay said she painted the orange-yellow glow the trees give with the scenic Brightwell’s Mill in the background. Clay shared that the final image is of winter; she dedicated a piece of it to artist Queena Stovall, who was an American Folk artist from Amherst County. Clay said she painted one of her pieces on the mural in her honor.

Clay shared that she wanted this piece to be reminiscent and bring the community together.

She also thanked her friend Hadley Hall for helping her complete the mural.
