A TRIO of friends from Poole have become the new organisers of the long-running historic art market in Bournemouth’s Lower Gardens.
Jesse Chissell, Hannah Dorban, and Maea Craft, three artists, are the founders of an independent events business that focues on supporting artists and makers across the BCP area.
Together, they run The Makerspace Market, a community-led craft event based at the Gather unit in Poole’s Dolphin Shopping Centre.
The Makerspace Market showcases a diverse range of handmade goods, including jewellery, artwork, handbags, cards, and crocheted clothing.

The trio first met as stallholders at the historic Art & Makers Market in Westover Gardens, which runs from May to September.
Over time, their shared passion for handmade crafts and supporting fellow creatives turned into a close friendship and eventually, a collaborative business venture.

“Our mission goes beyond just markets; we aim to create a warm environment where makers can connect, learn, and share their art with one another, while customers are able to shop from & support local small businesses.”
Having been involved with the Westover market for years, the group say they are “excited” to now officially be at the organisers of the event.
The market will now run on the first and third weekends of each month until September, with a focus on promoting local, creative talent and adding a fresh energy into the historic venue.

“As small businesses ourselves, we are delighted to support local businesses and artists and give them the opportunity to grow and expand with us.”
She added: “We are also excited to collaborate with Picnic Park Deli in the growth of the Westover Gardens community. We’re hoping the market will be, fuller and more vibrant, and have a range of different makers each time we host our makers market there.”
