On Monday, January 27, Cone Park welcomes anyone with a disability and their caregivers to come out and enjoy the tubing hill, ice skating rink, and warming lodge. Sled Hockey and Snow Shoeing will also be available this year! Crafts and games will also be available in the lodge during the event! There will be staff on hand to provide any additional assistance. Protection precaution equipment such as helmets and elbow pads are not provided. Feel free to bring any assistive equipment such as slide boards, lifts, or any other equipment that would assist with using the hill and ice skating rink. Cookies and hot chocolate will be provided. Anyone 5 years and up are welcome, but limited spots are available so please RSVP by emailing reskins@sioux-city.org to reserve your spot. Cone Park is not responsible for any injuries. Inky Valentines with Paula Crandell (Adult-Painting)

Create stunning Valentine-themed paintings for family, friends, or yourself! In this workshop, you’ll receive step-by-step instructions on using alcohol ink to create heart-themed cards, paintings, and ornaments. Teens are welcome to register with an adult. Students may bring their own supplies; however, required materials are included in the tuition cost.

Mentors, Mothers and Movers: The Legacy of Black Women in Sioux City

Join us on Saturday, February 1 from 10:30 am to noon at the Sioux City Public Museum for Mentors, Mothers and Movers: The Legacy of Black Women in Sioux City, an engaging panel discussion and educational program. This event will feature a film by local historian Jim Tillman, followed by a panel discussion highlighting the significant contributions of Black women in Sioux City. The discussion will focus on those who have made impactful strides as trailblazers, mentors, and leaders in founding and growing local organizations. Audience members are encouraged to share their own stories of Black women who have left a lasting legacy through their lives and lessons. The panel will be moderated by Margarite Hardnett Reinert, Chair of the Social Work Department at Briar Cliff University, and will include Sioux City community members Linnea Fletcher, Treyla Lee, and others.

Great Backyard Bird Count Hike

Help us kick off the Great Backyard Bird Count weekend and join nature center staff and Loess Hills Audubon members for a bird hike along the trails at the Nature Center. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy walking shoes. If you prefer, you can participate in an indoor bird count throughout the day, watching birds during the Nature Center’s open hours from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 pm. 2025 Ice Fishing Tournament

A three-class, cash prize for the greatest total length form up to three fish in these species: Walleye, White bass and Perch. All anglers will hit the lake at 8am and be asked to return before 2pm.
