The commissioner decided on the penalties because Malik identified himself as a teacher on social media while posting content that “undermined the integrity and reputation of the teaching profession,” he failed to act in the best interests of students, and “failed to maintain appropriate professional boundaries, by interacting with students as if they were a peer, rather than an adult and a professional.”
