Join some of the region’s favourite visual artists, for a free Pop-Up Art Market at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery (NRCG) on Saturday 14 December 2024. Featuring 20 artist-run stalls, this one-day visual arts event will take place in the heritage-listed Gallery in the heart of Ballina.
Including a range of artforms such as painting, ceramics, printmaking, textiles, mixed-media, photography, and sculptural installations, the market will feature a diversity of artworks and artists from across the region and beyond, with works for sale at a range of price points. A perfect day for the whole family to enjoy, just in time for the gift-giving season. Give the gift of a local artwork and keep our creative economy thriving!
NRCG is thrilled to announce the following featured artists participating in the market: Widjubal-Wiabul artist Val Smith; printmakers Rachel Dun and Penelope Sienna; oil painters Claudio Kirac and Jemima Patch-Taylor; multi-disciplinary Yaegl artist Vickki King; ceramicists Sofie Neuendorf and Kubek & Collaborators; textile artist and weaver Sue Connor; The Outpost Studio (Claudie Frock, Kate Stroud, Mia Zapata, Kylie Gartside, Beki Davies); landscape watercolour artist Dave Sparkes; wildlife photographer Sam McPherson; sculptural textile artist Holly Ahern, and many others.
Gallery Coordinator Imbi Davidson says:
“NRCG is excited to be hosting the upcoming pop-up art market! This event is a fantastic way to showcase and celebrate the creative talent from across Ballina and the region, and brings together an incredible selection of artists to share and sell their work”
The market runs from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 14 December, with ample free parking available in the surrounding streets. The Gallery Café will be open, providing their signature menu for visitors all day.
Those who attended NRCG’s Ballina Contemporary Art Market in 2023 should note this market is a mini, pop-up version of that event, and is reduced in scope, limited in footprint to inside the Gallery itself, and with no additional programming or entertainment. This time it’s all about the art!
Wi-fi and phone reception inside the Gallery can be limited, so in the case of limited ability of EFTPOS readers to make purchases, attendees are advised to bring cash with them, or if needed there are ATMs located a short walk away in Ballina’s CBD.
