Painter gets hands back, thanks to brain-dead woman donor and Ganga Ram doctors | Delhi News

NEW DELHI: A painter who lost both of his hands in a terrible accident will now be able to paint again, thanks to a miraculous surgery performed by doctors at Ganga Ram Hospital.
The 45-year-old, who underwent the first successful bilateral hand transplant in Delhi, will be discharged from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital tomorrow. He had suffered the loss of both his hands in a train accident in 2020.
A woman who was declared brain dead pledged her organs to a man who was from a financially struggling background and had lost all hope of living a better life.
The surgery lasted for over 12 hours and involved connecting every blood vessel, muscle, tendon, and nerve between the donor’s hands and the recipient’s arms.
