Police investigating another social media threat in Sioux Falls School District

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – The Sioux Falls School District said Wednesday that police are investigating a student behind another non-credible social media threat.

The SFSD said there is no current threat to any of their schools and classes will go on as scheduled.

According to the SFSD, the Sioux Falls Police Department is in contact with the family of the middle school student who is believed to be the source of a threat that circulated overnight on social media.

The district emphasized that when hoax threats circulate, it is best to report the threat, not repost it.

The new social media threat comes after authorities spent last week debunking reposted threats on Monday morning and more later that night and even charging a juvenile for one of those social media posts. Public Information Officer Sam Clemens said the juvenile altered the posts, which originated from another state, to include Sioux Falls schools.
