Prairie Arts Center Hosts its first-ever Christmas Art market

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – The Prairie Arts Center hosted its first-ever Christmas Art Market on Saturday. The event featured artists and over 10 vendors, including food vendors, and offered a variety of family-friendly activities, bringing the community together.

“We just want to bring the community in, we want to expose children to art, families to art, just really bring events to the community,” said Michelle Walchesky.

The day began with a brunch with Santa, followed by the opening of the Christmas Market at 11 a.m. Among the vendors was Jessica Lenhart, who showcased her crocheted crafts.

“I like to crochet,” said Lenhart. “I wanted to share that with everybody, so I decided to sell some of my crafts.”

In addition to crocheted items, a wood sculpting artist was on-site, creating live artwork throughout the day.

Attendees admired beautifully decorated trees, part of the Festival of Trees, featuring a silent auction.

After brunch, Santa also stayed to hear requests from children and take photos.

The market also offered a pre-registered wreath-making class, where participants created unique holiday wreaths using live evergreen branches cut from local areas around North Platte.
