Prescott Frontier Days Seeks Woman Artist For 138th World’s Oldest Rodeo

The Prescott Frontier Days Foundation is tipping its hat to women in rodeo for the 138th World’s Oldest Rodeo, set to take place from June 30 through July 6, 2025. This year, in keeping with the theme “Tipping Our Hats to Women in Rodeo,” the Foundation is on the lookout for a local woman artist to create a one-of-a-kind painting celebrating the spirit and contributions of pioneering women in rodeo.

Calling All Artists

The Foundation is inviting creative women to submit their ideas for an original painting that will be transformed into iconic posters and t-shirts. These items will be sold to support community and youth programs, with proceeds also going toward scholarships. Additionally, the winning painting will be framed and auctioned, with the funds going directly to charitable causes in Prescott and surrounding areas.

By participating in this historic opportunity, the chosen artist not only supports meaningful local causes but also earns the distinction of being part of the legacy of the World’s Oldest Rodeo.

What’s in It for the Artist?

Since the program’s inception in 2012, artists selected by the Foundation have received incredible incentives, including:

  • 16 Rodeo Passes: Two tickets per performance, complete with a media pass.
  • 200 Posters: For personal use and promotion.
  • Exclusive Artist Reception: A chance to meet rodeo members and the public.
  • Media Recognition: Coverage in local newspapers, magazines, social media, and the rodeo’s official website.

In addition, the artist is asked to provide 50 signed and numbered posters for the Foundation and make appearances during the rodeo. Past winners have reported a surge in interest in their work, making this an incredible opportunity for exposure.

Preserving Heritage Through Art

The Prescott Frontier Days Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that serves as the charitable branch of Prescott Frontier Days, Inc. Its mission is to support the community by educating the public about Western heritage, providing emergency financial assistance to Yavapai County citizens, and funding scholarships for local youth. This artist initiative is just one of the many ways the Foundation celebrates and preserves the history of the rodeo while giving back to the community.
