Rakhi Sawant became an overnight sensation with the launch of her popular music video Pardesiya.
From her humble beginnings to being one of the leading entertainers, Rakhi Sawant overcame a number of difficulties and established herself in the industry. While she started with a couple of music videos, Rakhi eventually made her way into Bollywood, working in films like Agnichakra, Kurukshetra, Joru Ka Ghulam, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hain, Main Hoon Na, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Dil Bole Hadippa, and many others. Talking about her music videos, the actress’ Pardesiya song remains a top choice among fans.
However, not many know that Rakhi Sawant had to sell her house to fund the video. Rakhi’s former director and longtime friend, Farah Khan, recently visited the actor’s Dubai home, where the duo made several interesting revelations. During their conversation, Farah also recalled when Rakhi sold her house for the music video.
As the duo got themselves into cooking a daal recipe, Farah said, “Rakhi, do you remember when you told me about making a music video by selling your own house?” further stating that she had advised against it. “Maine bola tha, tu pagal hai kya, tu apne paise kyu laga rahi hai? (I called you mad for investing your own money in the project.) But look at the conviction of this girl, she sold her home and made Pardesiya, the music video that became a super hit.”
Rakhi also spoke about receiving praise from Shah Rukh Khan for her video and said, “Shah Rukh Ji also said that I released a very good music video,” to which Farah quipped, “And after that, Rakhi Sawant became Rakhi Sawant.”
For those unaware, the song Pardesiya came out in 2004, marking the actress’s debut music video. It became a big hit, turning into an overnight sensation and a party favourite. Besides working in music videos and films, Rakhi Sawant also became a prominent figure on television and took part in several shows like Bigg Boss and Nach Baliye.
