Demolition work started in November last year as disused industrial buildings were knocked down as part of a scheme to transform vacant land in Lowestoft.

And with construction starting on the creation of a state-of-the-art business hub – which is hoped will drive economic growth in the town – at the end of January, work is gathering pace.

Work on the vacant former industrial site on Newcombe Road to create The Nexus – a new hub for clean energy companies – is well under way.

Described as a scheme that could be a “catalyst for further regeneration” in the Lowestoft area, the development will include 16 purpose-built contemporary business units with car parking, cycle storage and infrastructure works.

With the former industrial site on land adjacent to Newcombe House on Newcombe Road having been vacant for almost three years, it is being redeveloped to include the 16 units of varying sizes – to appeal to both start-up and more established businesses.

And with the start of construction work three months ago described by the council “as a landmark moment for Lowestoft”, the development is due for completion in autumn this year.
