
Leoma Lovegrove talks about her new Fort Myers, Florida art gallery

Famous Southwest Florida artist Leoma Lovegrove, an impressionist-expressionist painter known worldwide for her vivid colorful paintings, died this week. She was 72 years old.
Lovegrove’s Fort Myers art gallery posted the news April 16.
“The Gallery will be closed for Easter week and until Tuesday, April 29, 2025 as we prepare for a Celebration of Life for Leoma,” the gallery wrote on Facebook. “We wanted to share here with everyone close to Leoma that she passed away April 10th at the age of 72 with her husband, Michael Silberg, by her side in their home in North Fort Myers, FL.”
Lovegrove, who was diagnosed with stage-four breast cancer in 2018, touched thousands through her artwork. Not surprisingly, on social media, there have been a steady flow of tributes.

- Bealls Florida Department Stores featured Leoma as their Florida artist under the designer label Leoma Lovegrove complete with her trademark eye glasses.
- In Atlanta, Georgia, Leoma’s portrait of Jimmy Carter hangs in his Presidential Library.
- Leoma’s art is in the private collection of the White House in Washington, DC and in President George W. Bush’s Presidential Library in Dallas, Texas.
