Rs 500 crore Convention, Business and Cultural district set to transform Riverfront into global biz, culture hub

The iconic Tagore Hall and India’s premier design institute, the National Institute of Design (NID), will soon have a state-of-the-art neighbour along the Sabarmati Riverfront. The Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (SRFDCL) has proposed a Rs 500 crore Convention, Business and Cultural District, designed to accommodate everything from international conventions to cultural festivals.

This ambitious development aims to blend modern business facilities with cultural and recreational spacesaccording to SRFDCL officials. The project will prioritise sustainable design by incorporating green building standards. Additionally, it will integrate new modes of transportation such as a monorail, tram, water taxis and cable cars.

“The project is not just unique for the city but also promises to nurture the local economy, provide a vibrant cultural hub and foster a sense of pride and identity in the community,” said a senior AMC.  

The proposed district will serve as a platform for small and medium enterprises, offering them opportunities to participate in exhibitions and access larger markets.

2.    A business centre with 20 fully equipped conference rooms
3.    A state-of-the-art performing arts theatre with a seating capacity of 1,500
4.    A dome theatre for 400 attendees
5.    A luxurious, iconic hotel with 300 rooms
6.    A dedicated pedestrian zone spread over 50 acres
