The Pueblo Serena Estates art sale is set for May 17 in Sonoma. Visitors can expect to see a variety of artwork across different mediums, from hand stitching and painting, to ceramics and metal making.
Local retirement community Pueblo Serena Estates is hosting its third annual art sale from 1 to 4 p.m. May 17 at the community’s clubhouse at 951 5th St. West in Sonoma.
Seventeen local artists will be showing and selling their work during the event, which is open to the public. Visitors can expect to see a variety of artwork across different mediums, from hand stitching and painting, to ceramics and metal making. Several of the participating artists are members of the Arts Guild of Sonoma.
“A lot of artists in this group have been professionally creating work for 30 to 40 years,” participating artist and event organizer, Diane Lumiere said. “This is just our own little gallery.”
Some of the artists participating include Carol Kelley, Jane Kiskaddon, Barbara Crow, Ann Hollister, Jill O’Keefe and Hugh and Ellen McBride.
The event is designed to showcase local talent and foster artistic engagement in the area and display their expertise in metalsmithing, painting, ceramics and more.
“It’s always free and we invite the public and we have our reception,” said Lumiere. “We’ll sell all sorts of fine art and pottery and jewelry and things that the residents of Pueblo Serena create.”
Preparations for the event begin about two months prior, with Lumiere saying that since the event is totally self-funded, it takes some time to make sure all the artists are able to showcase their work.
“It takes some time to make sure everybody’s on board and then we have exhibiting spaces within the club house,” Lumiere said. “It’s always been a great event and it’s always been really fun.”
The event is open and free to the public and light refreshments and champagne will be offered at the art sale as well as “lots of parking.”
