Shaw Brothers discuss art, murals and running a business with SCORE students

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) – The Shaw Brothers were at SCORE today to discuss art, how to make murals and how to run a business.

It also included them helping the students create their own mural.

It was all a part of SCORE’s Life Skills Class, where, every Friday, the students learn skills like how to taxes, how to apply for jobs, or in this case, how to paint a mural.

Blake Thomas, the director of SCORE, says things like this get the students engaged which is the whole point of the program.

”The whole point of our program is to get students engaged, students that traditionally are not making it in a traditional setting,” said Thomas. “School’s just not working out for them one way or another. So get them out in the SCORE program and try and get them a trade as well.”

Thomas also says he hopes the project gave the students some ideas for what they could do in the future.

The mural that the students helped create will hang inside the SCORE building.
