Sioux Falls Police investigating shooting threats on social media

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Sioux Falls Police are investigating several social media posts claiming there will be attacks Tuesday for several Sioux Falls Middle Schools.

Police said they investigated a threat at Memorial Middle School they deemed not credible on Monday morning and had no concerns the rest of the day.

Similar posts appeared listing other school’s names on Monday evening.

Police say these posts are likely copycats, but the Sioux Falls School District said officers are visiting the homes of students who have reposted the threat.

The district warned that there would be consequences for the social media activity.

The district said it would continue to resolve the situation to ensure schools would be a safe place.

Sioux Falls Police said they are working with other law enforcement agencies as well as the Sioux Falls School District.
