PORTLAND, Ore. — PORTLAND, Ore. — Sitton Elementary School students in St. Johns teamed up with an international artist to create a mural celebrating their community.
Muralist Kyle Holbrook, who artistically represented the U.S. at the Summer Olympics, brought his talents back to Portland in collaboration with the school.
Holbrook’s newest mural at Sitton Elementary features local landmarks and greenery, symbolizing the community’s spirit. The students actively participated in the project as well, contributing their creative touches to the art.

“I like to use my art as a tool to galvanize people. And to be able to use it here, with not only the kids but the parents, is what I do it for. So it’s amazing,” Holbrook said.
This isn’t the first time Holbrook has shared his artistic inspiration in Oregon. Last year, he collaborated on a mural downtown that celebrated diversity and inclusion, and has also contributed artistic depections of Damien Lillard in downtown and disability rights activist Judy Heumann in Wilsonville
