On the occasion of the Festival of Sustainable Development 2025, promoted by ASviS – Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development, the Embassy of Italy in Denmark and the Italian Cultural Institute/IIC in Copenhagen hosted a panel discussion entitled ‘Sustainable Transition: Knowledge, Innovation and Responsibility’. The event, which was followed by the opening of the exhibition ‘Greenland Blurring – Art, Science and Climate Change in the Polar Lands’ by artist Roberto Ghezzi, at the same Institute, offered a platform for discussion on crucial issues of environmental sustainability, with the participation of representatives from the scientific, business and cultural worlds.
After the institutional greetings of Ambassador Stefania Rosini and IIC Director Massimo Sarti, the round table was moderated by Prof. Oriana Perrone, Director of Álida for Sustainability Academy, who led the debate on integrated approaches and innovative perspectives in Italy and Denmark to address global challenges. Speakers included Fabiana Corami, senior researcher (CNR – Institute of Polar Sciences), Roberto Ghezzi (Artist), Giulio Pagnacco, climate change consultant (OCO Risk), Francesco Giacomello, head of sustainability and blockchain (TRACED SYSTEM), Samuele Crippa, head of sustainability in global procurement (DEMANT).
The topics covered ranged from the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda to the centrality of education, research and innovation in tackling the climate crisis. Great emphasis was also placed on the contribution of art as a tool for awareness-raising and change, emphasising how dialogue between science, culture, business and institutions is essential to promote systemic change towards a more sustainable future.
