For the past three years, Business Librarian Isabel Soto-Luna, UNO Creative Production Lab Supervisor Charles Fisher, and CBA Marketing and Entrepreneurship Professor Dr. Zhihao (Max) Yu have led UNO art students through free workshops designed to help them market and monetize their work. This year, the group was invited to host the workshop at the Benson Theatre where they helped artists from the Omaha community start a business plan, with the assistance of the Nebraska Business Development Center (NBDC).

Ten local artists came to the event to learn how to market their products and create a business plan. Isabel Soto-Luna and Charles Fisher spoke about the different things the UNO Criss Library can help artists do, while Prof. Max Yu explained the different ways they could market their products. The group has even presented these workshops at art industry conferences.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the community and to make business and marketing tools accessible to artists,” Yu said.
