Texas Vignette, a Dallas-based arts nonprofit with a mission “to promote, support, and connect women in the arts in Texas,” has announced an open call for its 2024 Vignette Art Fair. Woman-identifying artists from across the state of Texas are eligible to apply, and the deadline to submit is August 2. Notifications of selection will be made on August 26.

There is a $36 application fee and all works submitted for consideration must be available for sale. 100% of all sales go directly to the artists. Applicants may submit between one and ten samples of their work, up to six of which can be video or audio pieces. Applications must also include supplemental materials including a CV, statement, bio, and links to websites and/or Instagram accounts. There should be an image list complete with dimensions and prices for each work in every application.

The curator for the 2024 Vignette Art Fair is Vivian Li, who is the Lupe Murchison Curator of Contemporary Art at the Dallas Museum of Art. Li has held her current post since 2019 and has collaborated on exhibitions with artists such as Mel Chin and Guadalupe Rosales. “The Vignette Art Fair stands out for its transformative impact,” said Li in a press release from Texas Vignette, “not only in elevating female artists but also in cultivating a vibrant culture of collecting their work.”

In a review for Glasstire, William Sarradet called last year’s Vignette “an exhibition that continues to see the needs of women artists and meet them with intention.”

The sixth-annual Vignette Art Fair will take place October 17-19 at Dallas Market Hall. The exhibition is free and open to the public on Friday, October 18, from noon to 7 p.m. and Saturday, October 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets for a VIP Benefit Preview on October 17, from 6 to 10 p.m. will be made available for purchase.
