HUDSON — Local arts incubator The Spark of Hudson is marking the launch of their new location and gallery space at 502 Union St with a group exhibit co-curated by legacy regional arts nonprofit organization CREATE Council On The Arts. The exhibition, “Our Town On The River: Showcase of Hudson Artists” represents a diverse cross-section of Hudson artists whose work reflects the burgeoning creative spirit and identity of the community at this place and time.

“Our Town On The River” features eight Hudson artists: Chiarra Hughes Mba, David McIntyre, Gretchen Kelly, Ifetayo Cobbins, Jonathan Simons (Hudson Athens Lighthouse Preservation Society), Kim Bach, Michelle Fox Smith and Pauline Decarmo. The Spark of Hudson Executive Director, Caitie Hilverman, says, “We’re so excited to have ‘Our Town On The River’ bring creative energy into The Spark Building, laying the groundwork for what we hope will be a vibrant, community-driven space. This exhibition marks the first of many partnerships that will celebrate local art and culture.”

“To celebrate the opening of The Spark, we wanted to curate a group of local artists to highlight the variety of works created by artists living and working in Hudson,” says Stella Yoon, Executive Director of CREATE.

“Our Town On The River: Showcase of Hudson Artists” will be on view and open to the public from Sept. 13 to Dec. 7. An opening reception will be held on Friday, Sept. 13 from 6-8 p.m. The reception will include a special showcase presentation of The Hudson Mural Project’s “Hudson Is Home”.

The Spark of Hudson is “dedicated to fostering learning, community development, and positive change. Through innovative programs, collaborative partnerships, and a commitment to developing replicable models, we strive to create sustainable solutions that address local needs while inspiring change on a broader scale.”
