Threats of violence against local schools circulate on social media, SBSO investigates

According to the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office, a social media message is being circulated by students containing potential threats of violence at local schools.

Sheriff James Pohlmann said that while the messages reference school violence, no schools are mentioned by name. He has also learned that the message has been shared across multiple school districts, including those out of state.

Pohlmann has increased security on and around the his area school campuses, and says the safety of the students, staff and community is of “utmost importance.”

This is an active investigation, and this story will be updated once further information becomes available.
