TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Indian Club hosted their February Native American Art Market at Mother Road Market, near 11th and Lewis, on Saturday.
The event had Native American art for sale as well as a Native fashion show, dancing and Indian tacos for sale.
“We try to use February, Valentine’s Day, as a opportunity for people to come shop, get one of a kind unique gifts that they can get for their spouses. We also hold other things throughout the year, around Christmas, we also have Memorial Day 5k/10k run at Mohawk Park, that we have, it’s our 20th year, so we do a lot of things within the community,” said Tulsa Indian Club Chairman David Bible.
Bible said the main goal of the Tulsa Indian Club is to promote Native culture and this event helps raise funds for the annual July powwow.
“The Tulsa Indian Club is Tulsa’s oldest cultural Native organization, we participate in the Christmas Parade, we participate in runs, promoting wellness, we also try to promote within the schools and conferences that come to town to kind of promote Tulsa as a Native American hub here in Oklahoma,” Bible said.
The event ended at 6 p.m.
