Turkey has blocked Access to the social Network Instagram

Turkey has blocked access to the social network “Instagram”, the Turkish regulatory agency announced today, but neither the reason nor the duration of the ban, which prevented the use of the application for mobile phones, was announced.

The director of communications in the Turkish presidency, Fahrettin Altun, criticized the platform yesterday for, as he claims, the decision to block posts expressing condolences for the killing of the leader of the political bureau of the Palestinian militant organization Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh.

“It is, in pure and simple words, censorship,” said Altun on the “X” social network, noting that “Instagram” did not indicate any kind of violation of regulations after its procedure.

The decision to block “Instagram” was published today on the website of the Turkish Administration for Information Technology and Communication.
