Tyrese Haliburton Deleted All Social Media Apps During NBA Finals, but Couldn’t Resist Checking This 1 Thing He Loves

Indiana Pacers star point guard Tyrese Haliburton powered through an injury during Thursday’s 108-91 Game 6 NBA Finals home victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Afterward, he provided insight into his locked-in, no-social-media approach to the finals, though he jokingly noted that one particular interest still occasionally draws him online.

After initially being deemed questionable for Game 6 due to a right calf strain he sustained in Monday’s 120-109 Game 5 road loss, Haliburton suited up in the must-win contest. While not at his best, the two-time All-Star tallied 14 points, five assists, two steals and three 3-pointers, shooting 5-for-12 (41.7%).

Haliburton’s production provided a valuable spark for Indiana as it overcame a slow start to amass a 31-point fourth-quarter advantage and keep its NBA championship hopes alive. It also left the fifth-year player in a lighthearted postgame mood.

Tyrese Haliburton Quips About Breaking Social Media Fast to Check WWE News Updates

Following Indiana’s decisive Game 6 win, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported on Haliburton’s social media hiatus since Game 1 of the series. However, she noted that Haliburton “admitted” during Thursday’s postgame interview to struggling with the endeavor due to his well-documented passion for WWE.

“Tyrese Haliburton says he’s deleted all social media apps off his phone since his last post on June 6 (after Game 1) tho he admitted occasionally he has logged on to catch up on WWE news,” Shelburne tweeted.

In a clip of the moment, Haliburton, who will be a playable character in WWE 2K25’s Dunk & Destruction Pack, laughed off the admission.

“To be honest, sometimes I gotta log onto Twitter to see what’s going on with WWE,” Haliburton said.

In another postgame segment, Haliburton revealed that, in between his calf rehab, he and his girlfriend, Jade Jones, have been watching the reality television dating show “Love Island.”

“My family, my girl, Jade, [are] staying on me to keep doing the treatment when the people aren’t there,” Haliburton said. “She wants to watch ‘Love Island’ right now. She’s like, ‘Yo, before we put it on, we gotta put something on the calf.’”

However, Pacers fans likely won’t mind how Haliburton spends his spare time as long as he continues to recover in time for Sunday’s highly anticipated Game 7.

Indiana has yet to win a title in franchise history, and may be hard-pressed to do so on the road without its top player operating at a high level. Home teams have won 15 of the first 19 Game 7s in finals history, presenting one last opportunity for the underdog squad to continue to defy the odds.
