Ubuntu Art Collaborative International bridges continents through art

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Today, we learned more about the inspiring mission of Ubuntu Art Collaborative International, an organization dedicated to showcasing African art to a global audience.
Joining us with all the details was Bryant Dozier, spokesperson for Ubuntu, and renowned artist, Jax Jackson. Ubuntu Art Collaborative International aims to harness the unifying power of the creative process to showcase African art to a global audience. Recognizing the challenges that artists in Africa and the African diaspora face in accessing reliable markets, the organization is committed to creating opportunities that allow African and African American art to flourish.

The collaborative envisions a world where artists from various continents unite through their talents to support marginalized communities, address socio-economic challenges, and promote humanitarian efforts across both Africa and the USA. By involving youth constructively in art, Ubuntu Art Collaborative International strives to create a positive global impact. The organization facilitates partnerships by creating platforms for collaboration, such as joint exhibitions and workshops, where African and African American artists can share their experiences and artistic techniques. Also Ubuntu Art Collaborative International offers mentorship programs, art education workshops, and community-based projects aimed at providing resources and exposure to emerging artists from marginalized communities.

Jax Jackson on Ubuntu and Art

My art is characterized by unpredictable splashes of color that create composition and speak life and healing” says Jackson. He adds “I consider my gestural painting, is where energy directs me leading to unpredictable splashes of color that form compositions. This approach reflects his journey of self-discovery and expression.  Sometimes a project may take 30 mins to an hour and other times a project may takes days and weeks to finish.” By challenging normal practices and combining unlikely d colors, Jax creates unexpected works of art that build depth and complexity, reflecting the intricacies of human emotions and experiences. Jax Jackson has expressed that both Ubuntu and art have been transformative in his life, stating that “they have saved me by providing a means of expression and connection to the community.” “I want my art to speak life.”

Ubuntu applies to everybody. Ubuntu is a Nguni Bantu term that means “I am because we are.” It embodies the philosophy of interconnectedness, compassion, and community, emphasizing that a person’s humanity is shaped by their relationships with others. Ubuntu promotes values like kindness, unity, and collective responsibility, often used to describe the African ethos of mutual care and shared existence. Dozier express “we are excited about the future of art and we are so glad to be displaying incredible art by artist like Jax Jackson.” For more information visit UbuntuArtCollabInt.com
