To mark 50 years in operation, Ferrycarrig Autobody Repairs has launched ‘Underbody Rust Busters’, a state-of-the-art facility offering advanced rust protection and vehicle longevity solutions and the first of its kind in the region. A family-owned business, Ferrycarrig Autobody Repairs is now led by managing director Louise Power who took over the reins in 2016 , becoming one of the few women to lead a business in this traditionally male-dominated industry.

Growing up in the garage founded by her father Declan in 1974, Louise was immersed in the world of autobody repairs from an early age. After pursuing a successful career in social care and psychology, including over a decade with Acquired Brain Injury Ireland and a postgraduate degree in psychology, Louise felt compelled to return to the family business when her father considered retirement.

“Taking over the family business wasn’t just about preserving what my parents built; it was about evolving it with a sustainable, innovative approach while breaking barriers as a woman in this field,” Louise said. “I’m passionate about demonstrating the strength of female leadership and creating opportunities for future generations, all while giving back to the Wexford community.”

The new ‘Underbody Rust Busters’ facility is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including a grit recovery system to minimise waste and promote environmental responsibility. This expansion supports a circular economy by extending the lifespan of vehicles and reducing the environmental impact of rust and corrosion, all while creating new local jobs.
